  • Volkswagen India strengthens its presence with the inauguration of  Volkswagen Moovattupuzha, the 5th touchpoint in Kochi district

Kochi: Volkswagen, Europe’s leading car manufacturer, today inaugurated its 5th touchpoint in Moovattupuzha, Kerala. The new facility, located at Kadathy Moovattupuzha is a 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) set-up, equipped with 03 cars display area, 13 service bays, paint and body shop and adequate spares stock. Volkswagen Moovattupuzha will soon commence service, paint and body shop aimed at meeting requirements for the periodic maintenance. Volkswagen Moovattupuzha will be operating under the able leadership of Mr. Sabu Johny, Managing Director, EVM Passenger Cars (I) Pvt. Limited.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Driving comfort

The Passat is the first sedan to be based on the MQB platform in India and is up to 70kgs lighter as compared to the predecessor yet offers improved rigidity. It also comes with premium features such as Park Assist which assists the driver by automatically carrying out the optimum steering movements in order to reverse-park on the ideal line. All the driver has to do is operate the accelerator and the brake while the steering movements are undertaken by Park Assist, ensuring that the driver retains control of the car at all times.

  • Over 75 employees of Volkswagen Group Sales India and their family members undertook a tree plantation drive in Mumbai
  • Volkswagen Group Sales India has tied up with an NGO, Green Yatra, for the plantation activity as well as to ensure that the plants are looked after for the next five years

Mumbai: Volkswagen Group Sales India implemented the project of planting 1,000 saplings at Aarey Passpoli in Goregaon (East). The whole project was supported by the employees of the company from across the brands Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini and even the family members of these employees.

Environment and its protection has become a big concern in today’s age. With the expansion of cities to support the growing population and the ever-increasing demand for urbanisation, it has become a priority for everyone to give back to the environment.

In a drive to contribute to this, Volkswagen Group Sales India’s employees pledged for a tree plantation programme as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Taking support from Green Yatra, an NGO that is devoted towards protection, conservation and improvement of nature, the employees planted 1,000 saplings today at Aarey Passpoli in Goregaon (East), Mumbai. Green Yatra will further ensure that these saplings get all the attention over the next five years at least in terms of watering, maintenance, protection from grazing cattle, grass trimming, feeding organic pesticides and compost as a part of the co-operation with Volkswagen Passenger Cars India.

Present at the tree plantation drive were senior management representatives of the company including Mr. Steffen Knapp – Volkswagen Brand Director, Ms. Usha Ramoo – Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mr. Michael Steinkamp – Head of Financial Controlling and Mr. Rahil Ansari – Audi Brand Director.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Nature has looked after us for centuries and it is time for us to look after it now. Cities are growing, however what is rapidly depleting is the greenbelt.” He further added, “What we have done today is the small step towards giving back to the nature. 1,000 saplings is a positive step but still only a drop in the ocean. All of us have to come together and undertake many more such activities in future.”

  • 17.15% increase in growth over the corresponding month of the previous year

Mumbai: Volkswagen, Europe’s leading car manufacturer has announced its monthly sales performance for September 2017, selling a total of 4,603 units as compared to 3,929 units sold in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The advent of the festive season for the year 2017 witnessed major changes in the applicable tax structure and also discussions on various policies for the industry. In spite of this mixed-bag of changing customer sentiments, in this season, we have registered a growth of 17.15% over the same period last year. This clearly reflects the trust that our customers have bestowed upon us and made their quintessential choice to drive safer cars for the Indian roads.”

In the month of September 2017, Volkswagen announced the start of production for the New Passat at its Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra and the carline is scheduled for the launch in Q4, 2017. In India, the New Passat will be the first Volkswagen sedan to be based on the modern MQB platform and will mark the presence of the brand in the premium luxury sedan segment.
