  • Volkswagen conducted the Sarvottam Hunt for Champions aimed at rewarding and recognizing excellence among dealership employees

Mumbai, December 20, 2016: Volkswagen, Europe’s largest carmaker, recently conducted the Sarvottam Skill contest for dealership employees across India awarding 15 finalists from different categories. Building a strong network and investing in people, the Sarvottam Skill Contest, engaged employees in an interesting contest encouraging and motivating them to excel in their respective fields.

The Sarvottam Skill contest, recognized excellence in the following categories: sales consultants, technicians, service advisors, parts managers and used car evaluators. The contest that began in August through online registration witnessed a total of 3000 entries. The entries were filtered to regional rounds where 200 individuals’ qualified and 58 regional toppers were identified and participated at the grand finale at Chakan, Pune. 15 National toppers were awarded as winners of the Sarvottam, Hunt for Champions and given a special training with the leaders at the helm of Volkswagen India.

Addressing the winners of the contest, Mr. Michael Mayer – Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We at Volkswagen believe in keeping our people at the helm of everything that we do. We intend to combine Best Practices followed at Volkswagen from across the globe and create opportunities for our dealership personnel in India to grow and imbibe the true spirit of leadership. Innovative contests like these will help set the benchmark and create a motivating environment to foster professional, profitable and customer centric growth. We will continue to invest and customize in such programs for our dealership personnel across India.”

The participants went through grueling sessions of evaluations where they were evaluated on their skills required in their official tasks, personal attributes and were tested on their orientation towards quality in processes and customer satisfaction.

Sarvottam Hunt for Champions is a part of Sarvottam annual conference at Volkswagen inviting more than 500 participants from the entire network pledging to offer the best of Volkswagen.

  • The Diamond Pin award is the highest honor bestowed upon a dealer globally and the winners are selected by the Volkswagen Brand

Mumbai, December 13, 2016: Volkswagen, Europe’s largest carmaker, bestowed the Diamond Pin on dealer principal, Mr. Shailesh Bhandari, from Volkswagen Pune West. Mr. Bhandari is the only Volkswagen dealer from West region of India to receive the prestigious pin from the Volkswagen Board in Germany this year.

The Diamond Pin is an annual award given to select Volkswagen dealers across the globe who continuously displays operational excellence in sales, servicing, customer satisfaction and parts sales over the years. The winner is selected by the Volkswagen Brand and this year there were a total of 60 winners across the globe, Mr. Shailesh Bhandari receiving a spot among the best from over 10,000 Volkswagen partners worldwide.

Mr. Bhandari is the second Volkswagen dealer principal to receive the prestigious pin in India, the first dealer principal was Mr. Sathish Kumaaran, Ramani Cars Pvt. Ltd., from South region of Volkswagen in India.

  • Marked a positive growth of 107% over the same month in the previous year

Mumbai, December 1, 2016: Volkswagen, Europe's leading car manufacturer today announced its monthly sales performance for November 2016, selling 4,014 units as compared to 1,942 units sold in the corresponding month of the previous year.

Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, "We have witnessed an encouraging growth with our November sales welcoming new members to the Volkswagen family. Earlier this year, we launched the Ameo and were positive that the vehicle would succeed in drawing car buyers' attention and it has lived up to our expectations."

Achieving an upward growth curve, Volkswagen attributes majority of this growth to increasing sales of the Ameo. Also, this November, Volkswagen marked an important milestone announcing the introduction of ABS and Dual Airbags as standard fitments across all Volkswagen carlines in India. The added safety features have set new benchmarks in safety by adopting global standards for all Volkswagen products in India.

Volkswagen today has an enhanced product presence in the Indian car market and consumers will now have a wider choice to select from Volkswagen's large product portfolio ahead of the upcoming holiday season.
