An ever-growing number of information, entertainment and communications systems are fitted to meet the increasing demand for convenience and safety in modern vehicles. A radio is part of the standard equipment, and is supplemented by a mobile phone, navigation system, TV or DVD system, etc. To spare the driver the complexity of a multitude of different operating systems, a central display and operating element – the infotainment system – was developed for intuitive operation of virtually all vehicle functions. All infotainment system functions can be operated via a main menu bar, menu-dependent function keys and controls on the multifunction steering wheel.
